The Florida State Seminoles are the #1 ranked team in the nation and play their arch-rivals the #22 Clemson Tigers, but with a huge problem this time: Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston will not play due to a one-game suspension for poor behavior at school.
The Seminoles went undefeated in 2013 en route to the National Championship win thanks to one of the best defenses in the nation, but struggled in their first game against Oklahoma State. Without Winston, the Seminoles will turn to backup Sean Maguire – a relative unknown. However, the Seminoles have enough depth in their offense to make up for any speed problems that Maguire might experience.
For Clemson, a Week 1 loss to Georgia put a damper on its National Championship hopes and has kept the Tigers in the 20s since then. An upset win over the Seminoles would likely propel them back into the top 10.
Prediction: Florida State – The Seminoles are much more than just QB Jameis Winston. They have great depth on defense and one of the most dominant offensive units in the country. It will be a much closer game now, but ultimately the Seminoles will avoid the upset.
