No. 21 Nebraska is entering their first Big Ten matchup with a 4-0 record, and they will face Illinois as they look to start off their conference play on a positive note.
Ever since surviving an upset scare by McNeese State, the Cornhuskers have had two consecutive convincing wins with spectacular performances on offense.
They rank ninth in the country with 45.5 points scored per game. Their attack is led by running back Ameer Abdullah, who is emerging as a candidate for the Heisman Trophy. He has rushed for 625 yards and five touchdowns, and he ran for 229 last week against Miami.
Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. has also gotten off to a solid start with 886 passing yards to go with nine touchdown passes against two interceptions.
The Fighting Illini enter this game with a 3-1 record, but they were beaten badly by Washington, who has been their only quality opponent so far this season.
Quarterback Wes Lunt has been impressive so far though. He has passed for 11 touchdowns with three interceptions while throwing for 1,237 yards.
The Illinois defense has allowed 32.5 points per game though, which ranks 103rd in the nation. Stopping the Cornhuskers offense will not be any easier, so a blowout win would not be a surprise.
Prediction: Nebraska 38, Illinois 17
