The #2 Auburn Tigers travel to their neighboring state to face the #3 Mississippi State Bulldogs in a battle of SEC undefeated teams.
Their histories are incredibly different: Auburn has been a top team in the FBS for several years while Mississippi State has struggled to get into the top 25 in the best of years. But now the tides have turned – the Bulldogs are on the rise, going 5-0 and pulling out one of the greatest upsets in team history by beating the Texas A&M Aggies.
Auburn ended last week with a dominating 41-7 win over the LSU Tigers and begin an incredibly difficult schedule stretch with games against South Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Georgia in the next 6 weeks before the Iron Bowl finale against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Auburn has one of the best offenses in the nation and has shown no signs of slowing down.
Mississippi State is a surprising 5-0 with two wins over SEC opponents and topped Texas A&M at home. They have the home-field advantage once again which is a big reason so many people feel they can pull the upset. On offense the Bulldogs have scored at least 34 points in every single game – this game could be a shootout.
Prediction: Auburn – The Tigers and Bulldogs seem evenly matched, but ultimately Auburn has more explosive playmakers which is why they get a slight edge in this matchup.
