No. 6 Notre Dame is coming off a huge comeback victory over No. 25 Stanford, and they improved their record to 5-0 with their win. They will look to improve to 6-0 against North Carolina.
Quarterback Everett Golson came through in the clutch with a touchdown pass on fourth-and-11 with just over a minute remaining, and he finished with 241 yards and two touchdowns with one interception on 20-of-43 passing.
While those may look like ordinary stats, Golson did all of this against the top-ranked defense in the country. The running game also performed reasonably well with 129 rushing yards, which equated to four yards per carry.
The Fighting Irish offense will have a much easier defensive matchup against the Tar Heels, who lost their third game in a row to Virginia Tech.
The Tar Heels have shown how vulnerable they can be on defense since they allowed 70 points to East Carolina before allowing 50 to Clemson.
The offense has been prolific throughout the season though, and quarterback Marquise Williams is a dual threat. He rushed for a season-high 94 yards last week while passing for 187 yards and a touchdown.
However, they will face a stiff test from the Fighting Irish defense, which ranks third in scoring defense with 12 points allowed per game.
Prediction: Notre Dame 31, North Carolina 17
