No. 1 Florida State recovered from a near upset against North Carolina State and defeated Wake Forest, 43-3. Kicker Roberto Aguayo kicked field goals in the Seminoles’ victory. They will look to stay undefeated and on top against Syracuse.
Quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 297 yards and one touchdown with one interception on 23-of-39 passing, and running back Mario Pender rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
The Seminoles have scored 39.2 points per game, and their defense has performed solidly for the most part with 20.8 points allowed per game despite hiccups against NC State and Oklahoma State.
Meanwhile, the Orange are coming off their third loss in a row. They were blown out, 28-6, at home by Louisville. Quarterback Terrel Hunt looked dreadful with 201 yards and two interceptions on 17-of-32 passing.
Hunt has only completed 57 percent of his passes this season and thrown just one touchdown pass against four interceptions. However, he will miss a month with a fractured fibula, so Austin Wilson and A.J. Long are expected to see snaps at quarterback.
The Seminoles should have another easy matchup ahead of them, but they will need to win as convincingly as possible to have any hope of staying at No. 1 since No. 2 Auburn is facing No. 3 Mississippi State.
Prediction: Florida State 42, Syracuse 14
