Arizona State stuns USC – Arizona State defeats USC, 38-34, on last-second Hail Mary touchdown pass
No. 17 Arizona State is coming off a bye week that they were able to enjoy after stunning USC with a game-winning Hail Mary touchdown pass to win, 38-34, and improve to 4-1.
Quarterback Mike Bercovici made his second collegiate start and threw for 510 yards with five touchdowns against the Trojans, and he is expected to receive playing time in the Sun Devils’ next game against No. 23 Stanford.
However, Taylor Kelly is healing from his foot injury. The Sun Devils are reportedly considering playing both quarterbacks, but Kelly will be a game-time decision.
Meanwhile, the Cardinal are coming off a 34-17 home victory against Washington State. They still rank first in the nation in scoring defense with just 10 points allowed per game.
Quarterback Kevin Hogan rebounded with a fantastic performance against the Cougars with 284 yards and three touchdown passes on 23-of-35 passing.
He will have another leaky defense to take on in the Sun Devils, who have allowed 31.4 points per game, including a 62-27 loss to UCLA.
The Cardinal may be on the road in this game, but their offense is skilled enough to put points on the board against the Sun Devils and neutralize their offense.
Prediction: Stanford 28, Arizona State 21
