Indiana is seeking its first Big Ten win of the season, and they currently hold a 3-3 record. Although they already have an upset win over Missouri, they have been blown out by Maryland and Iowa in their Big Ten matchups.
In their 45-29 loss to Iowa, Hoosiers quarterback Nate Sudfeld struggled greatly as he was held to 85 yards with one touchdown and an interception on 4-of-9 passing, and the worst case scenario came up as he had season-ending shoulder surgery.
Backup Chris Covington is not expected to start though because his mother will reportedly not let him play. She would not reveal the reason why though. Freshman Zander Diamont will make the start despite never throwing a pass for the Hoosiers.
He will face the toughest test of the season for the Hoosiers in No. 8 Michigan State, who is looking to stay in national title contention.
The Spartans held off a Purdue rally and sealed a 45-31 victory with a pick-six with just over a minute remaining. Wide receiver Tony Lippett caught seven passes for 138 yards and a touchdown, and he has now caught eight touchdown passes this season.
Their defense should have no problem holding a freshman quarterback making his first start, and they would have too much firepower for the Hoosiers to keep up with even with a healthy Sudfeld.
Prediction: Michigan State 38, Indiana 14
