USC beats Oregon State – USC defeats Oregon State, 35-10
Oregon State improved to 4-1 after they defeated Colorado on the road, 36-31. The Beavers were able to win in relatively convincing fashion as they took a 36-24 lead toward the end of the game and led the entire way through.
Quarterback Sean Mannion performed efficiently as he threw for 278 yards and a touchdown on 27-of-37 passing. Running back Terron Ward rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
Despite having an impressive record, the Beavers are still looking for a quality win that will propel them into the top 25. They will have the opportunity to do this against Utah.
The Utes are also 4-1, and they are coming off a bye week following an upset win over UCLA, who was ranked No. 8 at the time.
The running game took over for the Utes as running back Devontae Booker led his team with 156 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries. Quarterback Kendal Thompson added another 83 yards after taking over for the benched Travis Wilson.
Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham said that he will not announce his starter for the next game, but Thompson is expected to replace Wilson.
The Utes will have a close matchup against the Beavers on the road, and Mannion has the skills to pick apart the Utah pass defense. The winner of the game will likely be in the next top 25.
Prediction: Oregon State 28, Utah 21
