No. 15 Arizona stormed out to a lead against Washington State that they would never lose, but the Cougars didn’t go down without a fight. The Wildcats had led, 52-16, at the end of the third quarter, but the Cougars scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
This win puts Arizona at 6-1 as they remain in contention for a Pac-12 title, and Washington State falls to 2-6.
Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon shined as he threw for 294 yards and five touchdowns on 26-of-38 passing, and running back Terris Jones-Grigsby rushed for 107 yards on 13 carries.
Wide receiver Cayleb Jones led the Wildcats in receiving with seven receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.
For the Cougars, quarterback Connor Halliday continued his pass-happy ways as he threw for 489 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions on 56-of-79 passing.
Wide receiver Vince Mayle was Halliday’s go-to target as he caught 14 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown, and Isiah Myers added another six catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
