Nebraska Northwestern preview
No. 16 Nebraska recovered from a close loss to Michigan State and came away with a 38-17 victory over Northwestern to 6-1. They will look to improve to 7-1 and stay in the Big Ten title race as they face Rutgers.
Running back Ameer Abdullah re-established himself as a leading Heisman Trophy candidate by rushing for 146 yards and four touchdowns.
Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. played turnover-free ball and caught a touchdown pass on a trick play from wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El.
Meanwhile, Rutgers is coming off a humiliating 56-17 loss to Ohio State, which dropped their record to 5-2. After having a great start, the Scarlet Knights appear to be vulnerable and not ready for competition against the premier Big Ten teams.
Quarterback Gary Nova was held to 192 yards and an interception with no touchdowns against the Buckeyes after having a two-game stretch with seven touchdowns and one interception.
Running back Desmon Peoples looked solid though as he rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. The offense will face a big test from a Cornhuskers defense that ranks 18th in the country with 19.9 points allowed per game.
The Cornhuskers offense should be enough to propel them to a victory though.
Prediction: Nebraska 31, Rutgers 17
