Pot Three: CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Kiev, Lyon, Olympiakos, Galatasaray, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla
The back-to-back Europa League winners are the most dangerous team in this pot, but the odds on Chelsea facing them are slim as three of their possible five pot-two opponents are also from Spain.
Shakhtar have good recent pedigree in continental competition – they won the Europa League in 2009 and beat Chelsea in 2012 – but several of their talented Brazilians have left over the last two summers.
Trips to Kiev or Moscow do not strike fear into the heart as they used to, and therefore the teams to avoid would be Galatasaray or Roma – who have a potent attack and plenty of European experience.
Olympiakos present the kindest draw and the best opportunity for six points. The cash-strapped Greek champions have been forced into selling many of their best players and have a pretty young side.
