The best of the best from Europe’s top club competition.
The Champions League is now halfway through the group stages and whilst some teams appear to be running away with the group, others are fully in the balance.
Here is fanatix’s Team of the Week from what was another great showing of European football.
Claudio Bravo – Real Sociedad: Despite Manchester United scoring within two minutes, Bravo then went on a one man defensive to ensure Sociedad stayed in the game.
Gregory Van Der Wiel – Paris Saint-Germain: The right-back is now fully part of PSG’s success and blazed a trail down the flank as the Ligue 1 champions ran out 0-5 winners.
David Alaba – Bayern Munich: Another great game for the young Austrian who operates more as a left winger than a defender and even got on the score-sheet against Viktoria Plzen.
Philipe Mexes – AC Milan: Keeping Barcelona at bay is no mean feat and the Frenchman was dominant against the Spaniards in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.
Eliaquim Mangala – FC Porto: Despite the Portuguese champions being on the end of a 0-1 home defeat to Zenit St. Petersburg, it’s easy to see why the centre-back is in such demand with this display.
Nuri Sahin – Borussia Dortmund: Liverpool fans must be wondering if it’s the same player that came to Anfield on-loan, as Sahin bossed the midfield as Dortmund beat Arsenal 1-2.
Simon Rolfes – Bayer Leverkusen: It was a similarly impressive display from Rolfes as Leverkusen romped to an unexpected 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, with the midfielder scoring.
Franck Ribery – Bayern Munich: The France international appears to be getting better and better at the Allianz Arena and bagged two goals in the Bundesliga champions’ third victory.
Wesley Sneijder – Galatasaray: It seemed as if the attacking midfielder was back to the glory days of old with an impressive performance in a 3-1 triumph over FC Copenhagen, scoring along the way.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid: It’s been another superb campaign for the 28-year-old as Ronaldo bagged a brace against Juventus to take the season’s tally to seven in the competition.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Paris Saint-Germain: Save the best until last however, as Ibrahimovic showed a great display with four goals against Anderlecht including an absolute screamer.
