Watford and Wigan are both keen on Chalobah.
Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah is the subject of a scrap between Championship rivals Watford and Wigan Athletic as both try to secure the teenager on-loan, reports the Mirror.
The 18-year-old spent last season with the Hornets and enjoyed great success under manager and Blues legend Gianfranco Zola.
However, Wigan have spent strongly this summer after being relegated from the Premier League and also have the lure of European football due to the club’s surprise FA Cup victory over Manchester City in May.
Either side would be getting a youngster of the highest quality, with Chalobah being highly rated at Stamford Bridge and the starlet already has 61 international caps for England at youth level, with the defensive player currently in the under-21 squad.
The Latics are in search of a new midfielder after selling James McCarthy to Everton for £13m on transfer deadline day and Chalobah can operate as a defensive midfielder.
The Englishman is highly coveted due to the fact that the Chelsea man can also operate at centre-back, as well as being able to play as a No.10 behind the striker.
Both Watford and Wigan will have to match the player’s new £35,000-a-week wages however, with Chalobah being given a pay rise following a successful season at Vicarage Road.
Manager at the DW Stadium, Owen Coyle, has been busy bringing in new faces which includes Manchester United’s Nick Powell on-loan – but also Grant Holt, James McClean, Scott Carson and Leon Barnett on a permanent basis.
