The Blues are set to ruin the party in north London.
Just as a deal seemed done for Anzhi Makhachkala star Willian to make the switch to Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea have entered the race at the 11th hour.
To make matters worse for Spurs it appears that their London rivals are winning this particular contest as well, as Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson reveals.
We’re told Chelsea in advanced talks over signing Willian. Deal close. Not done yet. #cfc

Tottenham were on the cusp of signing the Brazilian from underneath Liverpool’s noses, but now are about to have the same cruel trick pulled on them.
Willian was meant to have completed a medical at White Hart Lane and signed for Andre Villas-Boas’ side by now and this delay will only serve as a further worry to fans of the Lily Whites.
The 24-year-old is almost certain to be leaving Anzhi after the Russian club transfer-listed all of their players in a bid to significantly reduce their financial outlay.
The winger only signed for the side in January of this year in a £30m move from Shakhtar Donetsk and Anzhi hope to recuperate at least that when they sell Willian on.
It wouldn’t seem that Jose Mourinho would need any more attacking midfielders who operate behind the striker at Stamford Bridge though.
Currently the club has six players who play in those positions in the shape of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Oscar, Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle and Victor Moses.
Spurs on the other hand are more desperate due to the impending departure of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid – which could be a whole lot harder without Willian’s arival to cushion the blow.
