Stamford Bridge star wants to move to Emirates Stadium on a free transfer as part of a revenge plan on Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea centre forward Samuel Eto’o wants to join Arsenal this summer in order to get back at Jose Mourinho.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Cameroon international’s representatives have got in touch with the Gunners in the hope of sealing a switch to Emirates Stadium, but his motivation is rather unusual.
The 33 year-old has offers from the Middle East and Major League Soccer, but is desperate to join the Gunners due to a personal feud with Jose Mourinho, who inadvertently mocked him publicly after being caught on camera with his microphone still active by French journalists, suggesting that Eto’o was far older than he claims.
While Eto’o later pastiched Mourinho’s comments with a goal celebration imitating a senior citizen with a bad back, the Mirror claims that behind the scenes he was incandescent with rage, and plans revenge with Arsenal.
Eto’o scored 12 goals in 21 starts for Chelsea last term, and by netting in matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, he proved his big game mentality.
Having been decisive with goals in two of his three UEFA Champions League victories over the course of his career too, the signing of Eto’o would certainly bring a proven winner to the Arsenal dressing room.
While he is not the A-list striker that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may be looking for, Eto’o could still be a fine option as backup or from the bench.
So long as his wage demands are not exorbitant, bringing him in on a free transfer could prove a clever move by Arsenal.
