Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz, according to reports.
Arsenal were also understood to be interested in the Chilean international, however, Metro reports the Blues have agreed terms with the Brazilian club over the player’s transfer.
Aranguiz must now accept personal terms of the transfer to occur, and while his performances for Chile at the Copa America earned him plenty of plaudits, breaking into Chelsea’s star-studded midfield is an entirely different prospect.
According to Metro’s report, Ligue 1 giants Marseille have also made an offer for the 26-year-old, but are understood to be not able to match the Blues’ wage offer.
However, Aranguiz is likely to see increased first team action at Marseille, which could sway him to turn his back on the Premier League giants.
Aranguiz has played 55 league games and scored 11 goals for Internacional since joining the club from Universidad de Chile in 2014.
