Chelsea could pounce for unsettled Madrid youngster.Chelsea have emerged as new contenders to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Juventus, according to Fichajes.com.
The 21-year-old Spaniard has not managed to establish himself as a regular at the Bernabeu due to fierce competition for places from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, and has as such found himself strongly linked with an exit from the club this summer.
Arsenal’s search for a new striker has seen them linked with him on a number of occasions, though Juventus had looked the favourites to bring him in due to the player’s apparent desire to move to Italy.
However, with Juve manager Antonio Conte quitting the club this week, his move to Turin may be in doubt, meaning Chelsea have entered the running for his signature, with former Madrid manager Jose Mourinho keen for a reunion with the youngster.
The Blues have already signed Diego Costa for £32m this summer in a bid to improve their options upfront, but could also look to bring Morata as another option in that position, as doubts remain over the likes of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku.
