The club allegedly met with Ward recently to hold preliminary talks, but concluded that a move to Bavaria eventually wouldn’t suit all parties involved one hundred percent.
Ward has been in the headlines lately for stating that the England international wouldn’t sign a new deal with Liverpool this summer even if he were offered £900k-per-week before labelling former Reds legend Jamie Carragher a ‘knob’.
Bayern had declared an interest in Sterling after identifying him as a possible candidate to take over from their old guard, with Arjen Robben and Franck Robery both entering their 30s.
However, Bild believes that Sterling could be off to Real Madrid to link up with incoming boss Rafa Benitez, who first brought him to Liverpool when he was a teenager.
Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be interested in his signature and will no doubt be buoyed by the news that one of their main competitors has dropped out.
