The duo and Monaco want the unsettled Man United star.
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer and AS Monaco, Chelsea and Juventus have all become interested, according to Tuttosport.
The 30-year-old has become disillusioned under the management of David Moyes and has already been linked with a return to former club Arsenal.
However, whilst Juve are extremely keen on the Netherlands international, van Persie’s weekly earnings of around £205,000-a-week and his age may put off the Serie A champions.
Money is less of an object for the rich boys that are Monaco and the Blues though, although the Red Devils are unlikely to sell arguably their best player to another Premier League side.
This leaves the Principality club leading the way, as they look to alternatives for Radamel Falcao – who is already being linked with a move away from Ligue 1, despite only making a £50m switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2013.
Falcao is one of Jose Mourinho’s main targets at Stamford Bridge, as the west London side look to improve their attack.
Embarrassingly for the 51-year-old he was secretly filmed discussing the Colombia international at a sponsors event in February.
“I don’t have Falcao but Falcao doesn’t have a club. Who wants to play in front of 3,000 supporters?” Mourinho was quoted by the Guardian.
“If I was one day to go to Monaco it would be the end.”
After paying the Gunners £24m for van Persie in 2012 United are likely to want to make at least some of that money back and it’s thought a bid of between £14.5m and £16.5m would be enough to convince them to sell.
If the English champions are to show support to Moyes despite a poor first campaign in charge following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, then they need to back the Scot ahead of the players.
That means that if senior and influential figures disagree with the boss, it’s they who have to go – just as was the case during the Ferguson era, which was a ruthless tactic that proved to be hugely successful.
