Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford sides told to spend big to land FC Porto defender.
Chelsea and Man United are both said to be keen on FC Porto centre-back Elaquim Mangala though may well be taken aback by the asking price placed on the 22-year-old’s shoulders.
The Daily Star reports that the Estadio Dragao side have insisted the French defender will not leave for a penny less than his release clause which stands at a whopping €50m (£42m).
While Jose Mourinho and David Moyes may well be keen on bringing Mangala to Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford respectively but would surely not consider forking out such a sum for a player with just one full senior national team cap to his name.
Mangala played a minor role in first team affairs in his first season at FC Porto but last term certainly made an impact, being a regular in his side’s Primeira Liga title triumph.
FC Porto conceded just 14 goals in 30 domestic league games and Mangala was very much at the centre of the club’s rock solid defence and the chance to join either Premier League side would certainly tempt the former Standard Liege man.
Moyes could feel the need to strengthen his defence given Rio Ferdinand’s age and Nemanja Vidic’s lengthy battle with injuries whilst Jose Mourinho would seemingly have less of an urgent need to bring in another central defender unless speculation over a possible David Luiz exit were to prove a reality.
