Rennes midfielder Bakayoko is on the radar of the Premier League duo.
Stade Rennes teenage sensation Tiemoue Bakayoko is a transfer target for both Chelsea and Manchester United, according to Inside Futbol.
The Frenchman, 19, is a defensive midfielder and has impressed at youth level for the France international team, as well as making 12 appearances domestically this season.
Bakayoko’s performances this term have drawn the interest of the Premier League duo, with both the Blues and United looking for midfield reinforcements.
Strong in the middle of the park, the youngster is someone not afraid to put a tackle in and breaks up play in the style of legendary national compatriot and former star of west London Claude Makelele.
Bakayoko has been on the score-sheet once this campaign during the 5-0 rout against Toulouse, after only breaking into the Rennes first team this summer.
Both English clubs have a reputation of buying talent young and then trying to develop them, although the Red Devils have perhaps been more successful with this tactic in the past.
The current Premier League champions are struggling this year as they try and adjust to life without iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Replacement David Moyes has not yet adjusted to life at Old Trafford and the Scot may be looking to put his own stamp on the team with a signing like Bakayoko.
However, it is their top tier rivals that are struggling the most in defensive midfield, where both Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel have failed to convince.
