Full back set to remain on the South Coast, for now at least …
Both Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United have suffered a big setback in their bids to sign highly-rated Southampton defender Luke Shaw this summer after it was revealed that the youngster now intends to remain at St Mary’s next season after all, says the Sun.
The coveted England Under-17 international has been with the South Coast outfit for just two years now, having made his Saints debut in Jan 2012 in an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Millwall.
And in the intervening two seasons the 17-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the country’s brightest and most promising talents, having already featured in 25 Premier League matches for Southampton in their debut campaign back in the English top flight last season.
As a result, speculation had been rife of late that the left back would quit the club this summer in order to join either champions United or Chelsea, however, that now appears not to be the case, with Shaw instead opting to remain with the Saints.
