Cech will head to Spain whilst Varane arrives in West London.
Chelsea are ready to use Real Madrid’s interest in goalkeeper Petr Cech to tie up their long-term pursuit of Raphael Varane, according to the Daily Express.
With Thibaut Courtois having returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after three successful years on-loan with Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos are hoping to snap up Cech.
It’s likely the 32-year-old will be second choice behind his younger counterpart and Madrid see the Czech Republic international as the ideal purchase.
This is despite the fact they already have three ‘keepers at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the shape of captain Iker Casillas, Diego Lopez and new signing Keylor Navas.
However, the futures of both Casillas and Lopez in the Spanish capital are uncertain and the Blues could well welcome this deal as it would open up their move for Varane.
With Los Merengues wanting Cech, Jose Mourinho would have more leverage in the pursuit of the France international, who the 51-year-old is keen to sign to bolster his defence.
Although Gary Cahill and skipper John Terry were the best central defensive partnership in the Premier League last season, at 33-years-old Mourinho wants a long-term successor for the latter.
Currently only youngster Kurt Zouma is available as backup, whilst Branislav Ivanovic can also fill in despite generally operating at right-back.
Mourinho signed Varane for Madrid from Lens back in 2011 and the 21-year-old has since developed into one of the best young players in world football.
