The Blues face a tough task in Germany.
It’s set to be an impressive Champions League encounter as Chelsea travel to Schalke 04 in a match that many think will decide who tops the group.
The Blues have had an indifferent start in the competition with one win and one defeat, whilst Schalke have a 100% record and are looking strong.
Here are three key battles that fanatix thinks could decide the tie.
Julian Draxler v Branislav Ivanovic
The Germans’ quick and skillful winger will probably be the biggest threat to Jose Mourinho’s side, with the 20-year-old being able to create chances and score goals.
However, with Ivanovic at right-back the manager could not hope to have a more solid and reliable defender, although Draxler’s pace could be an issue for the Serb.
If the full-back can maintain the youngster then the west London club have a good chance of success.
Samuel Eto’o v Benedikt Howedes
Eto’o netted the striker’s first goal this weekend since arriving in England, but has looked far from the player that won this competition three times earlier in the African’s career.
In Schalke captain Howedes the Cameroon international will have a strong opponent and may struggle against the German.
Mourinho will want the 32-year-old to start finding form soon though with Fernando Torres and Demba Ba both also vying for a spot.
Eden Hazard v Atsuto Uchida
Chelsea’s ace winger from last term finally seems to have found that form again in 2013/14 with a brace against Cardiff City at the weekend.
Hazard was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year last season and could be causing Schalke right-back Uchida some real problems.
The Japan international likes to break forward but could be kept firmly in defence by the talented Belgian.
