Real Madrid could be going majorly against their Galactico transfer policy with a summer move to sign out-of-favour Chelsea defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel, according to CaughtOffside.

The Spanish giants could perhaps do with more backup options in that department, with little in the way of quality options behind first-choice midfield pairing Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Real have made some similarly strange signings in the past, moving for former Everton midfield hard-man Thomas Gravesen in 2005, and signing Lassana Diarra from Portsmouth back in 2009.
Mikel is not currently a regular in the Chelsea first-team and may be allowed to move, and it seems Real could be willing to offer him this surprise opportunity in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Chelsea, meanwhile, could also be bringing in new faces in that part of the pitch, with the Blues linked with a move to sign exciting Marseille youngster Giannelli Imbula ahead of next season.
