Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was keen to lure Juventus star midfielder Paul Pogba, and he was willing to take drastic measures even though they were ultimately unsuccessful.
According to The Metro, the Blues boss gave the French international a personal phone call to discuss a potential deal.
Although Chelsea are not in immediate need of a midfielder, the signing of Pogba will have been a huge signal of intent from the Premier League champions.

Chelsea reportedly had a bid offer of £73m rejected, and they have been warned that Pogba will likely be worth more than that next year.
Pogba will no doubt continue to receive interest, as he was also pursued by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
The star midfielder has proven to be a relatively adept scorer, as he has scored 19 goals in the last two seasons for Juventus.
It appears likely that Pogba will stay in Italy, as the defending Serie A champions have previously declared that he is not for sale.
