Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on his new signing Diego Costa since his arrival from Atletico Madrid, the Daily Mail reports.
The Blues boss had been keen to enhance his attacking options after some disappointing displays from the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba last season, and he now feels his side look in better shape upfront than last season.
Didier Drogba has also made a surprise return to Stamford Bridge after two years away, but Mourinho admits he has been pleasantly surprised by Costa – as have many of his new team mates.
“He’s a great addition for us,” said the Portuguese coach. “He is a fantastic player. Technically he is very, very good.
“That’s why lots of the players are so happy and so surprised, because his quality is even higher than what they expect.”
Costa is one of two players from Atletico Madrid to join Chelsea this summer, with Filipe Luis also arriving in London from the Spanish capital, while a third move may even be on the cards as the club are linked with Brazilian defender Miranda.
