The Chelsea boss made no secret of his interest in signing the England striker last summer and had two bids rejected for the 28-year-old.
At the time, it looked likely Rooney would seek an Old Trafford exit but despite the Red Devils dismal form this season, the Liverpudlian is on the verge of committing his future to the club in a deal worth £300,000-a-week.
Chelsea’s three senior strikers Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba have managed just 11 league goals between this this term and the Blues had been tentatively linked with a fresh move for Rooney in the summer.
That possibility now looks dead in the water but Mourinho says he is not bothered by Rooney’s new deal.
“I don’t react. We did show an interest in the past. It doesn’t bother me at all,” Mourinho told a press conference.
