John Terry will be ‘very uncomfortable’ when Chelsea play Liverpool
However, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho shot down this possibility immediately, saying that he will not allow his goalie to transfer to a rival club.
Cech lost his starting job to Thibaut Courtois, but Mourinho expressed his desire to keep the 32-year-old goalie on the team.
“If it was me, if it was my decision, the decision is for Petr to stay. That’s it. It would be my decision for Petr to stay. Even against his will? Yes,” Cech said to Metro.
In addition to Chelsea, Cech has also been linked to other squads such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Mourinho is adamant in not wanting Cech to sign with another English squad, but it appears that it may become a reality for Cech.
Although Mourinho holds his veteran goalkeeper in high regard, Cech may feel inclined to leave for a team in need of a starter since Courtois is only 24 years old and blossoming, and Cech’s contract runs out in 2016.
Courtois helped lead Chelsea to a Premier League title after leading Belgium to the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals.
