Blues look to rescue Brazilian midfielder.
According to reports in the Metro, 25-year-old Sandro of local rivals Tottenham Hotspur is a top target for the club this summer.
Jose Mourinho was lauded for the acquisition of Nemanja Matic from Benfica in the January transfer window, with the midfielder producing a particularly eye-catching performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against eventual champions Manchester City. And now Mourinho wishes to add to his midfield department and is looking for a hard tackling defensive midfielder, leading him to the want away Spurs star.
Sandro, who has made 76 league appearances for Tottenham since his arrival in 2010, is considered a key player by new manager, Mauricio Pochettino. But, with the financial power of Chelsea aiming to lure the Brazilian away from White Hart Lane, Pochettino may only be able to do so much to persuade him to stay put.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have lodged a “take it or leave it” £12m bid for Sandro “the beast” Raniere, although the north London outfit are extremely reluctant to sell the fan favourite, the player himself is looking for greener pastures.
Chelsea aren’t alone in their interest, though, as Italian sides Roma and Napoli are both keen, while Ligue 1 moneybags Monaco are also taking a closer look at him.
