Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that brilliant Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois will not be sold in the summer, ESPN reports.
It had been claimed that the 21-year-old stopper, who has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons, would permanently join the current Spanish table toppers at the end of the season in exchange for Diego Costa.
“Courtois is our player. Diego is not our player. So, again, I cannot speak about Diego Costa. About Courtois, I can. He’s my player,” the Portugeuse manager said, when asked about the potential deal.
When asked whether Courtois would join Atletico, Mourinho simply replied, “No, no.”
Courtois’s form over the past 18 months has been nothing short of sensational, and many have already labelled him as one of the world’s best.
Chelsea though already have experienced no.1 Petr Cech between the sticks, who at just 31-years-old, has plenty of years left at the top. Mourinho’s quotes could suggest that Courtois is ready to come in and replace the Czech international though, which would no doubt be met with a mixed reception from Blues fans.
