Highly-rated Baba Rahman has been pursued by the Premier League in the past. Is Jose Mourinho ready to bring him to Stamford Bridge?
Chelsea have been looking long and hard for a better alternative to defender Filipe Luis, and they may have found their man in Bundesliga.
According to the Metro, Chelsea are close to a deal with Augsburg for star left-back Abdul Baba Rahman. Considered one of the highest-rated defenders in the German league, Rahman has been a target of Serie A’s Roma this year and previously received significant interest from Arsenal and Man City in years past.
The Metro reported that the 21-year-old Ghana international actually prefers a move to London over Italy. A move to Chelsea would also allow Rahman to take his talents to the Champions League as opposed to Augsburg’s current position in the Europa League.
Just-Football.com noted last year that Rahman averaged 2.9 interceptions, 3.5 clearances, 1.4 dribbles, 0.5 shot blocks and 4.8 tackles leading into the 2014-15 season. He led Ghana to a runner-up finish in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
