Blues close to landing Gabon international hit man.
Chelsea are reportedly ready to make Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang their second signing of the summer next week, according to the Daily Star.
Reports in France, where Aubameyang has spent a large portion of his career before heading to the Bundesliga last summer, have suggested that the Blues are in advanced talks to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old only moved to Germany 12 months ago, and netted 13 goals in 21 Bundesliga starts for Jurgen Klopp’s side during his debut campaign.
And his form has caught the attention of Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who is looking to add more firepower to his frontline after disappointing showings from the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.
Eto’o, though, left the club at the end of the season, while Torres and Ba are widely expected to be sold over at some point over the next six weeks.
Mourinho is also said to be close to agreeing a deal to bring Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa to the club, but has identified Aubameyang as the ideal man to play backup to the Spanish international as he looks to bounce back from the lacklustre performances of the previous campaign.
