Chelsea have been keen on adding a defender this summer and now appear to be closing in on Baba Rahman.
According to the Metro, the Blues are on the verge of completing a £17.6m deal for the Augsburg defender.
Rahman may prove to be a long-term solution for Chelsea, as the Ghana international is only 21 years old.
Plus, he will be able to fill the void at left-back that was vacated by Filipe Luis, who has returned to Atletico Madrid.
Rahman’s imminent arrival may ultimately halt Chelsea’s hunt for Everton defender John Stones, for whom they have bid twice.
Their offers of £20m and £26m were subsequently rejected by Everton, and Toffees boss Roberto Martinez has made it clear that the team is not willing to sell him.
