Video: Why signing Chelsea’s Petr Cech must be Arsenal’s top priority this summer
Chelsea transfer gossip: Blues get £50m wonder kid boost, one Brazilian starlet signed and another targeted
Last month Green stated that he would prefer to stay with QPR if the team remained in the top flight. Although Green proved his worthiness as a keeper, QPR did not, and Chelsea are sure they can persuade Green to join the Blues.
Green’s impressive season started in March after being recalled to the English team for a reward for his remarkable performance. Since then, Green has managed to have a 67.2 percent save success rate as well as six shut outs.
The acquiring of Green would replace current number two goalkeeper for Chelsea, Petr Cech. Although Cech saw the pitch 15 times this season, he has expressed interest in playing more first-round football.
Chelsea’s manager, Jose Mourinho, has made it clear that he wants Cech to stay, although the rest of the club are obviously in favour of getting rid of him. Cech has received interest in multiple clubs including Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Paris St Germain, and Liverpool.
Green has one year left in his £40,000-a-week contract.
