Italian international has been linked with switch to England this summer.
Reports in Italy are suggesting that Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Roma and Italy ace Daniele De Rossi.
According to Il Romanista as reported by football-italia.net, the 29-year-old is edging closer to an exit from the Stadio Olimpico this summer with Jose Mourinho making him his priority.
The Premier League outfit are expected to make a €13m bid, and it has been reported that the player himself would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
It is understood that the deal includes a part-exchange offer, with Brazilian youngster Wallace moving in the opposite direction.
However, while the Italian media suggest that a deal can be reached, there has no been word from either club on the matter for some time.
Earlier this summer, Roma president James Pallotta revealed that every player was potentially on the market which predictably sparked rumours of an exit for De Rossi.
Having struggled for form and fitness last season, coupled with the club’s on-going issues and management changes, it is an uncertain time in the Italian capital.
Matters were not helped by their Coppa Italia final defeat to bitter city rivals Lazio last season, with angry supporters confronting some of the players at the first day of training at Trigoria on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, De Rossi has been regarded as unsellable for most of his career given the fact that he has been promoted through the youth ranks at the club.
It remains to be seen whether Roma boss Rudi Garcia will give the green light to a sale, but with his first season in charge approaching he will arguably be desperate to keep all of his best players at the club.
