Chelsea announce they have signed Germany international winger and forward Andre Schurrle from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on a five year deal.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle.
The Germany international star joins the West London side after a protracted transfer saga, penning a five year contract to move to Stamford Bridge.
Schurrle played tremendously well for Leverkusen last season, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in 40 starts for the Bundesliga side.
He has tended to play on the left wing for both his previous club and country, cutting inside to either dribble past players or shoot on goal from distance, and he was the second highest scorer for Bayer Leverkusen and joint highest in terms of assists.
The 22 year-old will wear the number 14 shirt for the Blues next season, and will look to push Eden Hazard, Oscar, Juan Mata and Victor Moses for a place behind the centre forward, though he can also play the lone striker role himself.
“I am so happy now I have signed and it is an honour for me to play for this club, with this team and for these great fans,’ said Schurrle to the official club website.
“I am really looking forward to it.”
