Chelsea’s hopes of signing Shakthar Donetsk attacking midfielder Douglas Costa have reportedly been dealt a big blow.
The Blues were seen as front-runners to land the 24-year-old Brazil international, who is valued at £20m, but it now seems the Jose Mourinho could lose out to Paris Saint Germain.
According to the Metro, Costa has indicated a willingness to join PSG, making them the new favourites for his signature.
He is quoted as saying: “I like PSG a lot. They have become an enormous club and it would be a pleasure to wear that shirt.”
Costa has been capped twice by Brazil at senior international level.
Chelsea are unlikely to admit defeat in their pursuit of the Shakthar playmaker, but his latest revelation suggests that it could be tough to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
