Free-scoring forward cannot return to Stamford Bridge in January.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Chelsea do not have the option to recall on loan striker Romelu Lukaku in January.
Lukaku, 20, netted a brace as Everton continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-2 win over Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Monday.
The Belgian international has now scored three goals in just two appearances for his new club, while Chelsea’s three strikers – Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o – are yet to score a league goal between them this season.
But after the victory over Newcastle, in which Lukaku also produced a fine assist for Ross Barkley, Martinez said that Lukaku, who scored 17 league gaols on loan at West Brom last season, could not return to West London.
“You need to remember the strikers Chelsea have,” added the Spaniard.
“They are a squad that has phenomenal talent up front. Romelu is still developing and the next step is to take what he did last season on to another level. We are just glad that we can have him.”
