Mohamed Salah has completed a move to Stamford Bridge…
Chelsea have completed the £11m transfer of FC Basel’s flying winger Mohamed Salah, the club has confirmed.
The 21-year-old has impressed in the Swiss leagues and in various European competitions for his club, as well as for the Egyptian national team, where he’s scored 17 goals in 27 appearances.
“I’m very happy to sign for Chelsea, such a big club in the world,” Salah told the club’s website.
“I hope I can make the Chelsea supporters happy and have a good career at the club for many years to come.”
With Juan Mata moving to Manchester United for £37m, Salah will replace him in the Chelsea squad. He provides a more pacey, direct option than the Spanish playmaker however, but will face a fight to nail down a first-team place, with Willian, Andre Schurrle, Eden Hazard and Oscar available as attacking midfield options.
Jose: ‘Salah is the kind of player that looks for space and tries to get in behind, so we think it’s a good decision.’ #CFC
