Jose Mourinho has earmarked six players as potential winter transfer targets…
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has let the club’s hierarchy know which six players he wants to sign when the transfer window opens in January, reports the Daily Star.
Although it’s far more likely that the Blues will only sign one or two players on the short list, Mourinho is still interested in strengthening various different areas of his squad.
The six reported names are: Inter Milan duo Fredy Guarin and Andrea Ranocchia, Benfica’s midfielder Nemanja Matic, world renowned strikers Radamel Falcao and Jackson Martinez, and Manchester United superstar Wayne Rooney.

The make up of the list shows that a top level striker is a priority…
Rooney’s contract expires in 18 months, but it seems highly unlikely that United would consider selling the England man to a Premier League rival. Monaco striker Falcao only joined the principality club in the summer for a whopping £52m, but is reportedly unhappy in France. Jackson Martinez stars for Porto, who have a history of selling their best players to European heavyweights for large fees, so could be the most realistic option.
Matic and Guarin are both technically capable centre midfielders, although the latter would be far cheaper. Matic used to be on Chelsea’s books, but would now likely command a £33m fee.
Ranocchia could replace David Luiz, who has not impressed Mourinho since the Portuguese boss took over the reigns in the summer. Ranocchia is a no-nonsense defender, while despite his talent, Luiz is regularly caught out of position.
