Chelsea are thought to be closing in on the signing of Santos star Neymar, after Roberto di Matteo, assistant manager at Stamford Bridge, was pictured watching him in action last night.
The Italian attended Germany v Brazil in Stuttgart, and saw the home team run out 3-2 winners – with all goals coming in the last half hour of the match.
Although Brazil lost the match, Neymar still demonstrated flickers of why he is so prized by Santos, and scored in the closing stages of the match with an impressive low drive.
Though Neymar scored the second most goals in the calendar year 2010 with 42 – just behind the 49 of Lionel Messi and ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo with 38, it is not just his prolificness in front of goal that interests Chelsea.
Neymar is a brilliantly instinctive player, a virtuoso that performs the remarkable.
