Blues are desperate to add more firepower in attack next campaign.
Chelsea are set to bring a halt to plans to sign red-hot Atletico de Madrid front man Radamel Falcao at the end of the season and will instead switch their focus to coveted Borussia Dortmund attacker Robert Lewandowski, according to exclusive reports in the Daily Express.
The Uefa Champions League holders have been monitoring Atleti’s in-form Colombia international for some time now, with a view to bringing him to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth a reported £46 million this summer.
However the west London club, who are expected to appoint Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho as the successor to ‘interim’ boss Rafa Benitez on 1 July, are now preparing to turn their attention towards Dortmund’s highly-rated Poland international instead on the recommendation of the ‘Special One’.
The Portuguese could only watch on in horror last month as Lewandowski scored a record-breaking four goals in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final to help thrash Los Blancos 4-1 on their way to eliminating the Spanish champions from Europe’s premier club competition.
And now ‘Mou’ wants to make the forward his first signing on his return to Chelsea.
