Blues switch focus to PSG midfielder.Chelsea look set to target a move for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Marco Verratti after missing out to Real Madrid for the signing of Toni Kroos, according to CaughtOffside.
The Blues are in the market for new signings in midfield this summer despite already bringing in Cesc Fabregas for £30m from Barcelona, with Verratti now said to be Jose Mourinho’s top target in that position.
The Italian international is one of the most highly rated young players in Europe at the moment, but there has been some suggestion that he would be open to leaving PSG this summer, with the Ligue 1 champions ready to accept offers in the region of £32m for him.
Manchester United have been linked with Verratti in the past, but Chelsea now hope to pounce on his potential availability and add him to their options in the middle of the park, while the likes of Ramires and John Obi Mikel could make way to help raise funds for the move.
Chelsea and PSG have already done business this summer, with Brazilian defender David Luiz making the £50m switch from Stamford Bridge to the Parc des Princes.
