Blues hope to beat Manchester United to promising Oranje’s signature.
Chelsea are interested in signing highly-rated Vitesse Arnhem midfield player Marco van Ginkel when the transfer window opens this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The Netherlands international has been with the Eredivisie outfit for his entire career, making his first-team debut for the Dutch club in 2010 and in the intervening three-year period Van Ginkel has proved to be a mainstay in the team.
The 20-year-old has to date appeared in 97 league matches for Vitesse, during which time Van Ginkel has managed to find the back of the net on eight occasions, as well as also contributing eight assists to the team cause.
Meanwhile overall the player has featured in 109 fixture in all competitions for Vitesse, netting an impressive 23 goals and registering a further 18 assists along the way.
And it is that kind of goalscoring form from midfield that has reportedly attracted the attentions of the west London club, although with a contract at Vitesse until 2015, Van Ginkel is expected to cost the Blues £8 million to buy this summer.
