Chelsea are eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.
The Blues have begun its title defence poorly following an opening day draw with Swansea City and a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, and Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to Daily Star, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the green light to Mourinho to dip into the transfer window and the Blues have told Atletico they are willing to spend £21m on the Frenchman.
Metro reports that the La Liga side recently slapped a massive £56.8m release clause on the 24-year-old and it is unlikely Atletico boss Diego Simeone would allow the player to leave for £21m.
As deadline day approaches, however, Chelsea could look to up its bid for the star player with Mourinho hell-bent on improving his squad.
