PSG’s Matuidi is popular among Premier League giants.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is impressing in Ligue 1 and Manchester City have joined Chelsea in the race to sign the Frenchman, according to The Daily Star.
Matuidi has been at the Parc des Princes for a little over two years since arriving at the club from Saint-Etienne and despite their being a host of talent available, was instrumental in their title success last campaign.
The 26-year-old is out of contract next summer and although the France international would be open to staying at PSG, the player hasn’t ruled out moving.
“I am really at ease at PSG,” Matuidi was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“My first wish would be to stay. But you can wish for something and sometimes it doesn’t happen.
“The club has a special place in my heart, but anything can happen in a career.”
The Blues have shown interest in the midfielder for some time, as question marks remain over current players in the position such as Michael Essien, John Obi Mikel and even Frank Lampard.
City on the other hand do have an abundance of talent in the centre of the field, but Jack Rodwell has struggled for starts since arriving from Everton.
The Frenchman would offer an additional defensive option, sitting in front of the back four and breaking up play before distributing it to the more creative players.
Matuidi has been heavily involved with PSG this term, playing 18 games in all competitions and also twice on the international stage for France.
