Chelsea face a frustrating summer in bid to sign Borussia Dortmund forward, with club CEO stating that he would not move to Stamford Bridge.
German giants Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they will not sell Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea or anyone else this summer.
The Daily Express reports that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is intent on landing the former St-Etienne striker in a bid to bolster the team’s forward line next season, but it seems as though the Portuguese will not have things his way this time around.
Although Chelsea are reportedly close to sealing a £32 million deal for Atletico Madrid star striker Diego Costa, Mourinho wants an insurance policy by adding another striker to his squad before next season, and sees Aubameyang as one who could bolster his attack.
Dortmund though do not want to sell the Gabon international after just one season at the club and insist that the forward will be part of their future plans despite not being a regular in manager Jurgen Klopp’s setup this season.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke was quoted saying about Aubameyang, “Why should he be leaving? He has just played here for one season.
“We did not believe he would be put up (in the team) from the start in every match for our club. We have an immense competition for places in the first team, this was impossible for him.
“We are content with Aubameyang, he has a contract left at our club.”
