Queens Park Rangers have rejected a bid from Leicester City for star striker Charlie Austin, which keeps Chelsea in the mix for the scoring phenom.
According to the Metro, QPR rejected Leicester City’s £12 million bid for their 25-year-old striker, who is reportedly being pursued by West Ham, Newcastle United and Chelsea. The decision shouldn’t come as a huge surprise as recent reports indicated that QPR wouldn’t settle for anything less than £15 million for their superstar. Austin has one year left on his contract, but after being relegated this past year, QPR may need his services to have any hope of returning to the Premier League.
Austin has scored 10 goals or more in every season as a professional since he was a teenage sensation with Kintbury Rangers in 2006-07. In 350 career appearances, Austin has 216 goals and was the Premier League Player of the Month in December 2014.
But despite Austin’s incredible 2014-15 campaign, QPR was unable to defend and gave up 73 goals (10 more than Newcastle’s 63). The club was relegated after finishing dead last on the Premier League table.
