Blues target Mangala hires Jorge Mendes.
Chelsea were strongly linked with the signing of FC Porto star Eliaquim Mangala over the course of the summer, but the move never materialised.
The pursuit of the 22 year-old central defender has now taken another twist, with news that Mangala has hired Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes, reports the Daily Mirror.
Having won two Portuguese Primeira Liga titles with Porto, it is a realistic assumption to make that the acquisition of a new agent indicates Mangala could be seeking a new challenge at a different club.
The France international would add some much needed steel to the Blues back line, and would provide competition to David Luiz, Gary Cahill and John Terry, 32.
Manchester City were also been linked with Mangala, valued at a whopping £40m by Porto, this summer but the Premier League runners-up signed Martin Demichelis for £3.5m on transfer deadline day instead.
